COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION

UPDATED FEBRUARY 24, 2021

The spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) is on all our minds and in the news.  The following information and links are to designed to keep all members informed during this time of great uncertainty in regards to COVID-19.   Considering the fluidity of information regarding the coronavirus, we will strive to act immediately with any new information.

Please understand that we are well aware of our responsibilities as a club, both to the players and parents that want to continue to train and compete as they planned to this season, and to those who feel we should cancel and pull our teams from the remaining scheduled competitions.  CCJ cares about, and is concerned about, the welfare and safety of all our players, coaches, and parents - regardless of their feelings concerning this issue.

CCJ has created a COVID-19 FAQ page to address questions our members might have at this time.  Given the fluid nature of this situation, we are dealing limited information and don't have very many answers.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding CCJ's COVID-19 response, please contact Director Bill Lang at bill.lang@clubcactusvolleyball.com or email info@clubcactusvolleyball.com and we'll answer as best we can.

USA VOLLEYBALL COVID-19 UPDATES

MAY 1, 2020  All USA Volleyball sanctioned activities will be required to adhere to the most stringent federal, state or local regulations for their respective areas.  All tournaments have been canceled at this time.  Pima County has closed all gyms and facilities so our USA Volleyball insurance won't cover any practices, individual training sessions or local event until allowed by Arizona, Pima County, and the Sporting Chance Center.

** UPDATED (MARCH 31, 2020; 12:30 PM) **  USA Volleyball has eliminated all sanctioned activities through April 30.  This ban includes but is not limited to all events, practices, individual training sessions or any event that is covered by USA Volleyball insurance.  All tournaments that were scheduled in March and April have been moved to late May and June.

MARCH 19, 2020; 7:00 PM:  USA Volleyball has eliminated all sanctioned activities through April 15.  This ban includes but is not limited to all events, practices, individual training sessions or any event that is covered by USA Volleyball insurance.  CCJ will continue to cease all practices through April 15 at the SCC.  As stated before, this also includes the Spring Session of the Youth Academy.

As a representative on the Arizona Region's Juniors Committee, CCJ Director Bill Lang will on a video conference call with other club Directors on Friday morning.  Once there is more information regarding Arizona Region competitions and scheduling, Club Cactus Juniors will be sending out another communication to all CCJ Families during the weekend or by Monday morning at the latest.  This is difficult time for our players and staff - we hope to have more information soon!

INFORMATION REGARDING TUITION REFUNDS/CREDITS

FEBRUARY 15, 2021:  At this time, all Arizona Region Tournaments and National Travel Events are still scheduled and/or have been postponed to a later date.  As long as tournaments are not canceled due to COVID-19, the club teams remain committed to the events and cannot request refunds.  If events are canceled, then we will work with our vendors to refund deposits that we paid in December-January.  Similar to last season, once we receive monies back, we will reconcile each family's account individually.

JANUARY 10, 2021:  Unfortunately, the 2021 Cactus Classic Invitational (January 16-18, 2021) was canceled in December due to current COVID-19 metrics nationally and in Pima County.  The cancellation of this event does not create a refund in tuition for CCJ members because this is our event.  The club is working hard to minimize the loss of over $150,000 in the CCJ budget; and over $40,000 in Cactus Classic Credits for our families.  The loss of this event is difficult on many levels and we appreciate everyone's support and patience during this difficult time for our athletes, parents, and club administration.

MAY 15, 2020:  CCJ has mailed Account Statements to all families detailing their Account Balance and the Refunds/Credits.  Families have three choices for the 2020 season: we can issue a refund, rollover the credit towards the 2021 Season Tuition, or families can donate their refund to CCJ families that need assistance during this difficult time.  Please let us know your selection by June 15, 2020.  All refunds will be issued in mid-June.

APRIL 8, 2020:  CCJ has developed a plan for 2020 Season Refunds.  We are working with the various vendors (Arizona Region, USA Volleyball, SCVA, Sporting Chance Center, etc) to refund deposits that we paid in December-January.  Once we receive monies back, we will reconcile each family's account individually.  We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate through this difficult time.

MARCH 18, 2020:  While we remain optimistic that we will return to the court in April, there is a possibility of a shortened club season and prorated refunds and/or credits.  Given the fluid nature of the situation we find ourselves in in regards to COVID-19, it's too early to cancel the season and start refunding members.  However, we understand that this could change at any moment.
